Golden Fly Series Innsbruck 2025

7th June 2025

21st International Golden Roof Challenge – epic sports evening with a world record in Innsbruck's city center!

The 21st International Golden Roof Challenge turned into a historic evening for the sports city of Innsbruck on Saturday evening, despite less than ideal weather conditions.

During the women's pole vault final, heavy rain fell, necessitating a half-hour interruption. The fan base of the cult event on Maria-Theresien-Straße, which now numbers in the thousands, was not to be dissuaded – and was promptly rewarded with a chapter in sports history.

The women's pole vault victory of Finnish Elina LAMPELA with 4.43 m ahead of Asian champion Chunge NIU/CHN with 4.33 m was almost insignificant in light of the fireworks display subsequently set off by special guest Paralympic long jumper Fleur JONG/NED. JONG beat her own world record in the long jump (class T62) by 12 cm with a jump of 6.86 m!

Estonian Liisa Maria Lusti won the regular long jump with a personal best of 6.46 m.

The men's long jump victory went to Germany's Luka Herden with 7.87 m. Second place went to US jumper Jason Smith with a very narrow 7.66 m, ahead of African champion Cheswill Johnson/RSA with the same distance but only one valid attempt.

The men's pole vault was won by Polish World Championship medalist Piotr Lisek with a 5.62 m, ahead of Swiss record holder Valentin Imsand (5.22 m).

The event was the 25th tour stop and home base of the Golden Fly Series – the world's only in-city track and field series – and was held at the world's largest mobile track and field facility, "The FlySwat."
